Recently we’ve have increasing amount of enquires regarding health insurance coverage.
To provide some assurance as to what you are covered for regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) through your private health insurance, please note the following information provided by Bupa:
For domestic policy holders:
- If you or your employees feel unwell and visit a GP for a consult or testing, this will be covered by Medicare like a standard visit. This also includes any appointments via video where it meets the criteria set out in the Medicare Benefit Schedule. Bupa is not allowed to pay any benefits for GP visits.
- If you or your employees are admitted to hospital as a private patient due to COVID-19, in most cases the treatment will likely fall under the Lung and Chest category. This is included on our Gold, Silver Plus and Bronze Plus hospital products, however, less common clinical issues could fall under different product categories.
For overseas policy holders:
- If your employees, students or visitors are feeling unwell and visit a GP for testing, your benefits will be payable depending on your level of cover. This may include video appointments, depending on the service and your level of cover.
- If your employees, students or visitors get admitted to hospital due to COVID-19, in most cases your treatment will likely fall under the Lung and Chest category, which is included on our Overseas Visitor and Overseas Student Health Covers.
