Western Australia moves to improve State Nomination Migration Program under the Graduate Stream

Great news for Western Australian international graduates with beneficial changes being made to the State Nomination Migration Program (SNMP) under the Graduate stream.

Premier Mark McGowan recently announced that the Graduate Stream of the SNMP will now include graduates of vocational education and training (VET).

The first invitation round that will include VET graduates has been confirmed to begin in December 2019.

December 2019 brings further beneficial changes to Western Australian Graduates allowing a decrease in the expected period of employment.  The current criteria requires 12 months Australian work experience in nominated or closely related occupation AND  A 12 month contract of employment in nominated or closely related occupation.

New December 2019  criteria only requires  6 months Australian work experience in the applicants nominated occupation on the Graduate Occupation List OR a 6 month contract of employment in the applicants nominated occupation on the Graduate Occupation List. This allows for more flexibility and shorter waiting periods in becoming eligible for state sponsorship.

A new Graduate Occupation List and these updated requirements for the Graduate Stream will be published on the website prior to the December invitation round.
