SkillSelect Invitation Round Released
The most recent invitation rounds results for 11 June 2020 has recently been published. This has launched some promising news for those who would like to obtain a Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189). It seems that the Department of Home Affairs is still issuing invitations under the Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189).
Details are as below:
Visa Subclass | Number of invitations issued | Minimum points score | Latest date of effect month |
189 visa | 170 | 85 | 02/2020 |
491 visa (family sponsored) | 30 | 70 | 04/2020 |

The minimum points score for this round was 85 points which is lower than the usual 90-95 points that we have been observing in previous invitation rounds. While the Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) is still quite competitive it is promising that slightly lower minimum points score received an invitation. This allows those that are waiting for the state sponsorship (subclass 190) to re-open to potentially use the Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) pathway as an alternative if your migration points are high enough.
